Dear Patricia Heaton, Rush Limbaugh, and anybody else who wants to deny my rights to basic health care:
I use birth control pills, tampons, pads, and yeast infection cream. I am not ashamed of my uterus so I take care of it. I take pride in my personal hygiene.
I am also a virgin.
Just because I am on birth control and use tampons doesn’t mean I have sex twice a day. Although, if I was sexually active I would probably have it often enough to keep me satisfied. It is fun apparently. I don’t want to deny myself from having fun. I would also like to do it safely and probably would use both condoms and The Pill.
Either way, my birth control usage is none of your business. It is for health reasons. Reasons such as if I don’t take it I am in so much pain I am unable to do anything for a day and am yowling like a cat in heat. It sucks. So, I take something to stop that. I have tried pain killers… those make me exhausted. So I take something to cut to the source of the pain rather than incapacitate me with drugs. Especially since the NSAID pain relievers are bad for my stomach and I suffer from Crohn’s disease
I am currently on antibiotics for a cold and got a yeast infection. It is common for this to happen. Very common.
In the words of Eleanor Roosevelt, “No one can make you feel inferior without your consent.”
And you don’t have mine.
In fact, you make me even more proud.
Proud not to be ignorant of her body. Proud to be a woman who takes care of herself. Proud to say that you will not dictate my sexual activity with shame and boos whenever I get to that state.
I am a woman who loves her body, and will never be ashamed of that.
